Rollovers

Can I rollover funds from another retirement plan into my Newport plan account?

If your plan accepts rollovers, you can access the Rollover Acceptance Form by logging in to your account and selecting “Plans,” choosing “More” and then clicking “Forms.” For more information, call the Participant Service Center at 844-749-9981.

Can I roll my retirement account out of Newport?
If you are eligible to take a distribution from your plan, you can roll over your Newport retirement account to an IRA or another qualified retirement plan that accepts rollovers. To get started, log in to your account, go to “Plans” and select “Distributions and Withdrawals.”

Loans and Distributions

How do I request a loan?
Many retirement plans allow you to borrow from your account balance, letting you repay the loan through automatic, after-tax payroll deductions. Borrowing from your 401(k) plan has certain advantages, but it also poses drawbacks. You can learn more about the pros and cons borrowing from your 401(k) here.

If you do need to request a loan, you can get started by logging in to your retirement account, going to “Plans” and selecting “Distributions and Loans.” The system will walk you through the process.

Can I pay off a loan early?
Yes, you can pay off a loan early. If you will be doing so within the next 14 days, please call the Participant Service Center at 844-749-9981. One of our representatives will give you instructions on who to make a check payable to and where to send it.

How do I request a distribution?
You can request a distribution/withdrawal online. To get started, log in to your retirement account, go to “My Plan” and select “Distributions and Withdrawals.”

How do I request a hardship distribution?
You can request a hardship distribution online. To get started, log in to your retirement account, go to “Plans,” select “More,” and “Forms.”

How long does a retirement plan distribution take?
Once you’ve completed the form, the amount of time it takes to receive a retirement plan distribution varies depending on the complexity of your plan. Typically, most checks are delivered within 6 to 10 business days after your request is reviewed and approved.

Other Common Questions

How do get my tax forms/1099?
Tax forms are mailed each year by January 31. These forms are for distributions taken the prior year. For example, if your distribution request was taken in June 2021, your 1099R would be sent to you by January 31, 2022.  If you have taken a distribution prior to 2019 and would like to obtain a copy of your tax form for a prior year, please call the Participant Service Center at 844-749-9981. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

How do I get QDRO Forms?

Because laws vary by state, we do not have a standard QDRO application available for download. However, your human resource department may have a sample QDRO that you or a representative can use when preparing a QDRO. Please call the Participant Service Center at 844-749-9981 for more information. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
