Lynn Atkinson Joins Newport Group as Chief Financial Officer

Walnut Creek, CA—September 09, 2019—Newport Group, a leading provider of retirement plan services, announced today that Lynn Atkinson has joined the organization as Chief Financial Officer, leading the company’s finance team. Ms. Atkinson will be based in the company’s Walnut Creek, California headquarters.
“Lynn has extensive experience in the financial services industry and has held leadership roles with a number of well-respected institutions,” said Newport Group Chief Executive Office Greg Tschider. “Her expertise will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”
Ms. Atkinson joins Newport Group from State Street Global Advisor’s defined contribution business where she served as managing director and global chief operating officer. In that role Ms. Atkinson helped define the vision, mission and strategy of the company’s defined contribution business. She created annual strategic and financial plans, led a team of financial and operational professionals, as well as other functional roles such as product development, and spearheaded a number of critical projects.
Lynn earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and her master of business administration from the University of Virginia.
