Keeping You Informed on Newport’s Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Mar 13, 2020

At Newport, our focus has always been on helping people prepare for their future. Amid growing concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19), we want you to know that our company is committed to providing a high level of service. We have been working to mitigate any potential impact to our clients and advisor partners, as well as protecting our employees and the communities in which we live and work.

In addition, we are also committed to keeping you informed with ongoing updates. Here are some of the latest steps we are taking as a company to protect our employees while ensuring business continuity:

  • Restricting non-essential business travel
  • Recommending employees avoid large, in-person gatherings
  • Recommending employees who rely on mass transit, have children impacted by school closures, or are more susceptible to COVID-19 work from home
  • Actively preparing for full remote work readiness, if needed, among business lines
  • Requiring employees who have traveled abroad or by cruise ship to self-quarantine for 14 days
  • Limiting visitors allowed in any Newport office

Our Business Continuity Plan

Newport has a well-developed and comprehensive business continuity plan, designed to meet the needs of our clients and minimize potential disruption in services during an emergency or disaster. The protocols and capabilities within the plan include:

  • Sufficient technical infrastructure and network capacity to support employees working from home in specific areas, or companywide
  • Secure, remote access for all employees
  • Video capability in place for all technology employees and senior staff
  • Redundancy capabilities within each of our business units

Keeping You Informed

Our business continuity plan incorporates an emergency management team structure. This team is meeting daily—and whenever a situation changes—to review the plan and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to respond to this fast moving situation, minimize business disruptions and help protect our employees.
